Ahead of the protest at Jantar Mantar, several users on X, Facebook and Instagram, including Gyanendra Singh (@Gks52305146), Raja Arya and harishankar.mandia, shared a video of a huge crowd outside a railway station. Hindi captions claimed the scene was from Delhi Railway Station and that Gen Z youth from across the country were reaching Delhi for an “aar-paar” (decisive) fight. Some posts addressed PM Modi directly and tagged the Election Commission, while others called it “Andolan 2.0” at Jantar Mantar. One Facebook version alone drew around 63,000 views. PIB Fact Check found that the video is not from Delhi. It is old footage from outside Sealdah Railway Station in West Bengal, wrongly presented as protest crowds in the capital. Reusing old crowd videos from other places to exaggerate turnout at political protests is a common tactic, so a video’s location and date should be checked before it is shared.
