Ahead of that year’s Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, he did sit-ups at a party workers’ meeting to apologise to party workers upset with him, not to the general public. The incident was widely reported at the time. Old political clips are often reshared without dates to suggest new controversies, so a video’s original date and context should be checked before it is shared.
