On October 19, 2026, several X accounts shared a night-time clip showing the Eiffel Tower engulfed in flames and buckling at the top. A Chinese-language account (@MinanMumu) wrote that the tower “has been burned down” and asked how an iron structure could burn. Parody and fan accounts styled as “Donald Trump Jr Q” (@DonaldTrumRVQ) and “Kurt Russell” (@KurtRussellUS) posted “BREAKING: Mostly peaceful student protestors have burned down the Eiffel Tower”, and “Russia Army” (@RussianStans_) repeated the claim. Together the posts drew well over six million views. Fact-checkers have marked the claim fake. The clip carries a “MrE” watermark, shows unrealistic flames and bending of the iron frame, and is not backed by any credible news report or official statement from Paris authorities or the tower’s operators. A wrought-iron structure like the Eiffel Tower cannot burn and collapse this way. Hoax videos of the tower on fire have repeatedly gone viral in past years, many of them CGI or AI creations. Such dramatic clips should be checked against official sources and live webcams of the landmark before being shared.
