Following the October 10, 2026 demonstration at Jantar Mantar against CEC Gyanesh Kumar over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter rolls, a video showing a huge crowd filling a road, with flags and banners visible, spread on social media as footage of the protest by opposition parties and the CJP. PTI Fact Check found that the video is neither from Delhi nor from the recent protest. It shows a 2025 demonstration by members of the tea community in Tinsukia, Assam, more than a year earlier. It joins a long list of recycled crowd videos, including clips from Bangladesh, Kolkata’s Sealdah station, the 2021 farmers’ protests and a Delhi Police recruitment drive, that have been used to exaggerate turnout at the Jantar Mantar protest. A video’s date and location should be checked before it is shared.
