Full Reportपूरी रिपोर्ट

On September 26, 2026, the Election Commission of India issued a press note saying that the declaration attached to Form 6 for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) had been upheld by the Supreme Court. Form 6 is the form used to enrol new voters. On October 5, during a hearing, Chief Justice Surya Kant said the court had not approved any modified Form 6 and wanted to see from the record who had modified it. After this, Ashutosh Ranka posted on X that the ECI had "apparently taken down" the September 26 press release and had thrown Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar "under the bus", sharing a screenshot of the ECI website's press note list as proof. PIB Fact Check has called this claim fake. The screenshot itself also shows a press note dated Saturday, September 26, 2026, still in the list. PIB's fact-check covers only the claim that the press release was taken down. The wider dispute over the Form 6 declaration is still before the Supreme Court, where the ECI maintains that Form 6 itself was not amended and that the declaration is an additional requirement for the SIR.
